d6 Technology’s products are desktop and mobile applications designed to simplify the sending of news, calendar events, photographs and documents to a group of people from a central point. It is, in effect, an electronic newsletter, and pushes content daily to the end user. We have taken the successful School Communicator and now are offering it as a communication channel for internal business communications.

Kenridge Case Study
When I first saw the School Communicator (demo), I was not convinced that it would work for our school. My second impression, after taking over the job of doing the school bulletin, was very positive. I realised that much of the time which I was spending on compiling the bulletin, could be saved.

Nina’s advice to other schools
- Don’t give up – people dislike change, but use every opportunity to explain the benefits. Help them with the change by providing support where possible.
- Promote parental buy-in by getting your students to install it on their phones and having them show their parents how to use it. We found this worked very well.
- Use the built-in features such as channels efficiently. Don’t put out information that doesn’t relate to a particular grade or class. In other words, avoid using the ‘all’ channel unless absolutely necessary.
- Get a panel of students, parents and teachers together to help you evaluate your progress. We learned valuable lessons from this and changed our methods accordingly. This also helps your stakeholders feel as though you’re really listening to them.
